What is Health Coaching?
Health coaching is a completely client centered approach to health and wellness. We realize that people do not like being told what to do. So we do not come to you with any kind of agenda. We talk to you over the phone, ask you questions, and help you figure out what your health vision looks like. Once you have figured out your health vision, we help you figure out what would be the best approach for you to get there. As a health coach, we might be experts at health and fitness, but we realize that you are the expert of you. We don’t push one way of doing things – what works for one person does not work for another. If you are not sure what approach would be best for you, we can go over some options with you – but you are ultimately in charge of the plan. Whether you want to improve your health numbers, eat better, lose weight, get in shape, or reduce some stress – health coaching will help get you there. You can set some small easy to follow action steps, or be more aggressive with them. Maybe you just want to make some small dietary changes, or maybe you want to go on a specific diet plan. Maybe you want to just be more generally active, or maybe you want to be on an exercise plan. Health coaching is the most effective long term approach because it is the best, most realistic plan for you, plus you get all the accountability and support you need to stay on track.
Ben uses a state of the art app with his health coaching. Ben has done health coaching just via the phone, and has also done fitness training just through the app – using both is best. It is important to talk so that we can explore ideas and options, get feeling and emotions, celebrate success together, and talk through challenges to see if we need to adjust the plan. After we talk on the phone, Ben will customize the app with your plan. In the app you will be able to record stats, set up healthy habits, and track workouts. Because Ben is also a personal trainer, he can also customize a training program for your ability, goals, and whatever equipment you have access to. Don’t want to workout, no problem – we can just focus on whatever healthy steps you want. Already have a workout plan you like, great! – just check in to workout on the app. The app helps you stay on track, and helps your health coach see what you are doing. For super easy tracking the app syncs to other devices like Apple Watch, Fitbit, and My Fitness Pal. Since your health coach can see what you are doing, he can message you between calls through the app as needed.
