Dr Maran says that menopause generally start by the age of 42 and goes up to 52 years and this depends on genetics and food habits. He says that some people will have smooth menopause while for others it is a tough time. Dr Maran goes on to tell that women gain weight in three phases of their life, during puberty, during pregnancy, and during menopause. Everyone is aware that weight loss after menopause is very difficult to achieve.

Hormones, lack of physical activities, depression, loss of muscle mass is the reason for weight gain after menopause. Dr Maran, therefore, recommends building muscle tone by doing minor exercises with minimum weights, yoga, etc. The next thing Dr Maran recommends is to keep track on weight. The third important thing is to eat healthily. Particularly he asks to increase the quantity of food that has fewer calories like veggies, fruits, whole grains, etc. Dr Maran emphasizes the importance of a balanced breakfast. He bats for getting exposed to sunlight which can give vitamin-D to the body. It not only builds calcium in the bones and makes them stronger, but they also help decrease our depression and can reduce the symptoms of menopause.
