In my supplement to lesson 5 (By Scripture Alone—Sola Scriptura), I discuss two principles of interpretation that can help us avoid confusion when studying the Bible: (1) Take EVERYTHING the Bible says on a given topic, and (2) Take the literal AS IT READS, unless obviously figurative.
