Many girls across South Africa still do not have access to the Human Papillomavirus vaccine, despite it being recommended by the World Health Organisation.

The HPV vaccine is administered to girls aged nine to 14 years against 90 percent of cervical cancer cases later in their lives, with HPV types 16 and 18 accounting for 70% of all cases worldwide.
