Vitamin C is a fantastic antioxidant. It’s great for brightening and general anti-aging, but what’s with all the different formulas? Welcome to skincare school. There are lots of different forms of vitamin C. Ascorbic acid is the most active but the trickiest to make it stable and get through skin. Skin suitical C furillic is the classic. There’s other versions for sensitive, acne prone, and pigment prone skin. Low acidic pH can be irritating. So, scientists develop newer formulas that are still stable and still work really well, but they’re at a higher, more skin friendly pH. They use polymers like this one. This is a good option if your skin is a bit sensitive to vitamin C. If your skin really can’t handle vitamin C or you want to give your skin a break, you might want to try these other options. They are less active, but they’re more stable and less irritating. One of my favorites is the scalable gluccoside. It plays more nicely in combination formulas.
