Hey, Ivy Nutrition, Megan here coming to you with an educational video. We’re going to talk about immune systems tonight. I want to talk to you about highdose IV vitamin C. We talked a little, well, we heard a little bit about highdose IV vitamin C from Dr. Tara this week in IV Nutrition Academy. I wanted to expound a little bit on that since we do offer that as services obviously and give you a few other little tidbits to help people boost their immune systems this germ season. All the kids are back in school, sports are going to be starting soon, sweaty, germs, dirt. Let’s make sure our clients are at optimal health and if they’re feeling a little down, how can we best help them? So, I’m going to focus primarily on highdose vitamin C. We offer it through the classic C, the Colossal C, we have the Colossal C plus. We’ll talk a little bit about that later. Um, the inner immune, the insane immune. We also have oral supplementation to help boost their immune systems. Talk to your ACD or your directors about getting education on those. Although, we will have be having some more education coming to you about how to sell those, how to add those into protocols, things like that. So, real quick, vitamin C is also called asorbic acid. It is an antioxidant. What does that mean? It helps absorb free radicals. Little bit of chemistry here for you chemistry nerds. It’s an electron donor. That’s how it renders free radicals neutral. Um, it protects us from the free radicals and therefore protects us from chronic and acute inflammation. Um, it’s great for anybody with a chronic or acute inflammatory process going on, long-term or short term. um anybody going through a recovery process, whether it be from an injury, from surgery. Um it’s even been shown in research according to the NIH to be very beneficial in cancer patients active and recovering, those that are in remission especially. Um how do we get vitamin C? We don’t make it ourselves. We have to get it through our food. Unfortunately, vitamin C decreases in its absorbability through heat and light. What do we do? A lot of cooking. So, you’re going to decrease the amount of vitamin C available through your food by cooking it, especially if you’re microwaving it. Um, you can also decrease the vitamin C availability by processing the food. So, lunch meat, hot dogs, things like that. Um, drying and salting your food also degrades your vitamin C absorbability in the food. So, um, salting degrades asorbic acid, which is the vitamin C that we have. Um, the NIH does have a vitamin C fact sheet that you guys can look up, but I’m going to go into just some of the little bullet points in there. Um, at risk group at risk groups for vitamin C deficiency. We talked about cancer just a little bit. I mentioned it. Um, also those with cardiovascular disease, those with cataracts, um, that can be related to vitamin C deficiency. Also, of course, your common cold, flu, COVID, strep, hand, foot, and mouth, all the good stuff that the kids are about to bring home. Um vitamin C has a low toxicity rate. So if people um express concern about highdose vitamin C um it can in some cause mild GI distress. So nausea, abdominal cranking, cramping, diarrhea, not usually vomiting. Um they also can get a mild headache or um increased thirst levels. So make sure we are encouraging these people to um increase their fluid uptake. This is also why vitamin C drips, the classic and costal C are listed under targeted therapy on our menu versus the hydrating drips. They’re under targeted therapy drips. Um, also caution for clients with a history of kidney stones. Um, highdose vitamin C can increase the likelihood of kidney stones. Very relatively very low risk for your relatively healthy population. Um the breakdown of vitamin C can be um and the co-actors can be looked up like I said with NIH. Um collagen is also it’s also a co-actor to collagen. So we learned of course um scurvy is a vitamin C deficiency. It causes the breakdown of collagen all those open sores. So people who have collagen deficiencies or who are looking to boost their collagen um your beauty community, your athletic community, even your weight loss community can benefit from highdose vitamin C. Your inflammatory disease, acute um autoimmune disease can benefit from highdose vitamin C. Um it’s also a key in um a key component in iron absorption. So especially it’s iron iron deficient anemia is very popular especially amongst your Caucasian female community. guilty. Um, so if someone’s on an oral iron supplement, you want to make sure that they are on vitamin C. Also, side note, if they’re on an iron supplement, make sure they’re taking it with food and not dairy. It renders it unavailable for absorption through gastric byp gastric bypass ga uh gastric breakdown. If you’re taking it with with dairy, fun fact. All right, so we talked about it’s an antioxidant. It’s a co-actor for collagen, iron absorption, and neurotransmitters. It helps with the neurotransmission process in our body. So if you’re chronically inflamed, your neurotransmitters aren’t going to function to their optimal level. So anybody with um a neurotransmitter issue, if they have an inflammatory process, if they’re dealing with neurodeenerative disi neurodeenerative diseases of any kind, vitamin C can potentially also help this population. Um, classic C, colossal C, innerimmune, insane immune, interimmune and insane immune we saw a huge climb in last year. Interimmune retail is about 179. I believe the insane is immune is 219 or 229. Um, the classic C is 149. So, let’s make sure that people if they’re worried about cost, we can always offer them the classic C. When you go to your menu, you guys, for those of you that are a little bit newer, this is set up in a certain order on purpose. So, the first thing you’re going to see is your hydration drips, right? These are not your vitamin C drips. You do have the inner immune listed right here. Um, it does have vitamin C in it, but it’s got some other stuff. Let’s talk about the other immune boosters. Lysine, it’s the number one recommended ingredient for those with cold sores. herpes simplex virus is um settled with lysine. The inner immune has lysine. The insane immune has a double dose of lysine compared to the inner immune. So make sure that we are um aware of that and that we can offer that to people who might need it. Um also your zinc, of course, your vitamin C and your B vitamins. Let’s get their their body performing optimally. After your hydration drips, we have the targeted therapy drips. First two that you will see are your classic C and your colossal C. um 12.5 and 25 grams of vitamin C respectively. Anything beyond the colossal C, which is your colossal C plus, they’re going to need a GFE. They need a G6 PD and a CMP blood level drawn. So, make sure you schedule that. Um, make sure that we draw that prior to any services that they receive if they’re doing both on the same day. And then right under that, you have the insane immune. Again, under targeted therapy, not hydration, they might get that increased thirst and headache when they get those drips. Pair it with the glutathione. That’s our member special for September. We’ll have more on glutathione coming. If you guys have other questions about how we can help boost the immune system, please feel free to ask your ACD or director or send it to me. Hope you guys have a great night. Hope this was quick and informative and I’ll talk to you soon.
