Hey Ford, I watched your short about vitamin D3 and K2, but I got confused. What’s the right dose of each one of them? Well, uh, I got to plead innocence. Everybody’s confused about this issue. You hear some people say take 20,000 a day international units of D3. You see other people say, and most people say and 2,000. Now, what’s the problem here? Not going to get into that. I’ve reviewed the evidence and I’m focused on getting better levels, but also being safe. So, start with 5,000 international units of D3 every day. In about a month, get a a serum level of your D3 and then titrate up or down based on your level. You want to get between 50 and 90. Getting over a 100, a lot of people say, is fine. There’s plenty of evidence in the literature that that can damage your kidneys and even kill you. Now, another confusing point is K2. Now, uh, most D3 K2 preparations and most K2 preparations alone will give you 100 micrograms of K2. That’s probably not enough. I recommend 3 to 400. So, it’s hard to to take these in mixed uh D3 K2 because the ratio is not right. You get one right, the other one’s wrong. You get the other one right, the first one’s wrong. So I separate it. I take uh D3 the way I mentioned a minute ago and then I take K2. Now some people are going to ask me where the evidence is on the K2. Bottom line is there’s not a lot of evidence about K2 period, but what is there indicates that it can help with inflammation of the arteries and yes, calcification of the arteries and bone.
