Biggest vitamin mistake people make is taking vitamin D by itself. But without its sidekicks, vitamin D isn’t doing its full job. Vitamin D needs two essential partners, vitamin K2 and magnesium. One of vitamin D’s main roles is boosting how much calcium you absorb from food. But vitamin D doesn’t control where that calcium ends up. How this mistake affects your health. First up, vitamin K2. It activates proteins that move calcium into your bones and teeth while keeping it out of places you definitely don’t want it, like your arteries. Now imagine taking lots of D3 without enough K2. You’re absorbing calcium, but it’s floating around without directions. That free calcium can pile up in your blood vessels, sparking inflammation. The second issue is magnesium. Every enzyme needed to activate vitamin D depends on magnesium. If you’re low on magnesium, your body simply can’t switch on the vitamin D you’re taking.
