ah what a beautiful day birds chopping trees growing flowers blooming nature at its best oh little kitty it seems like you have got allergies [Music] sorry for that kitty hey friends i’m sure just like little kitty allergies must have ruined your perfect day as well so in today’s episode let us dig deeper into this entertaining world of allergies and answer an important question why do we get allergies zoom in [Music] imagine one beautiful spring morning you step outside take a deep breath of fresh air and suddenly you begin to sneeze uncontrollably your nose starts running throat gets itchy and you feel congested and if you notice a similar pattern of illness every now and then it is easy to reach to the conclusion that these are symptoms of allergies but what are these allergies that take away all the fun well allergies are abnormal immune system reactions to things that are generally not harmful to you like milk animal dander pollen peanuts etc these substances that cause an allergic reaction in your body are known as allergens that vary from person to person as different people can be allergic to different things but what causes this immune reaction you see our immune system is built to protect ourselves from harmful intruders such as viruses and bacteria [Music] when these infectious microbes enter our body our immune system that has white blood cells reacts and releases antibodies to destroy those unwanted guests thus keeping us safe and healthy but when an allergic person consumes an allergen either by eating or inhaling our immune system mistakenly believes that this substance is harmful to you and attacks it the same way as it would have attacked an infectious bacteria this triggers the cell to produce chemicals such as histamine into the bloodstream to defend against them it’s the release of these chemicals that causes allergy symptoms like sneezing runny nose congestion and itchy skin [Music] but the most important question is why do some people get allergies and some don’t well there are multiple factors responsible for it one primary reason is if you are exposed to the allergen as a baby you are less likely to develop allergies that’s because during childhood exposure to allergens allows our immune system to identify harmful substances and toughens up but if you grow up in an extremely hygienic environment your immune system will fail to develop correctly and can attack non-harmful substances like pollen thus leading to allergies another factor could be hereditary which means it can be passed down through your parents to you however just because a parent or sibling has allergies doesn’t mean you will definitely get them too remember my friends allergies could be dangerous and can lead to anaphylaxis that can cause severe swelling low blood pressure shortness of breath extreme itchiness etc so if you see any of these symptoms make sure to talk to your parents and visit your doctor asap trim your time did you know some people are allergic to water yes aquagenic urticaria also known as water allergy is a rare condition that causes itchy and painful rashes whenever the sufferer comes into contact with water not only that you won’t believe it but there are some allergies which are far more unusual like some individuals suffer from allergic reactions just from handling money and there are people who get an allergic reaction whenever they exercise well that sounds like a good excuse not to hit the gym it’s question time so today’s question is what is the other name for aquagenic urticaria do write your answer in the comments section below and hit the like and subscribe button if you haven’t yet to be a part of the peekaboo kids cutesy beauty family and get a chance to get it featured by the end of our videos so here are the winners of the previous episode [Music] hope you enjoyed today’s episode until next time it’s me dr bynox zooming out never mind hey kids you liked my videos didn’t you before you go don’t forget to click on the subscribe button and the bell so you won’t miss out on my latest videos see you you
