i’m often asked what are my favorite supplements
and what supplements do i personally take in terms of strengthening my immune system so i’m going to
go through them and lay them out for you and some are interchangeable but some of my mainstays dha
so a high quality fish oil supplement yes i do get dha from my diet but i also supplement with that
high quality dha which is docosahexaenoic acid it’s the omega-3 that as humans we tend to be more
deficient in so i ensure that i get enough every single day with my fish oil supplement i also make
sure for my immune system that i top up my zinc so the zinc that i take includes quercetin as
well which is a zinc ionophore helps to open up that channel so that zinc can actually have its
proper entry into the cell for proper utilization but also it contains some copper because you don’t
want to disrupt the copper zinc balance which is important because by taking too much zinc you
can offset your copper levels and by taking too much copper you can offset your zinc levels so
that right ratio is important and that is in the supplement that i take i also take a whole food
vitamin c to help to strengthen my immune system as well as elderberry so elderberry is something
that if i do find that i’m coming down with a colder flu that this is fantastic to help with
those symptoms and is known to really help with upper respiratory tract infections now some of
my favorite herbal medicines for my immune system include echinacea which is known as a natural
antibiotic and this is what the early settlers in north america used of course before we had
conventional antibiotics this was their antibiotic of choice i also love astragalus which is known
as a deep immune herb and this helps with upper respiratory tract infections as well helps with
the longevity so decreasing that longevity if you do come down with a colder or flu this is really
important and also helping to prevent diseases in terms of helping with our immune system so that we
are healthy especially as we’re aging i also love althea which is marshmallow and this is known as a
demulcent herb and this is great for sore throats and irritated mucous membranes i love this herbal
medicine i actually open up so i take all of these in combination i open up the capsule which these
are all powdered down and concentrated and if i do have a bit of a sore throat i open up that capsule
and that powder into my throat and drink it down with a little bit of water it’s fantastic and it
actually sues the sore throat right on contact so this is great as well as panax ginseng so panas
ginseng is known to stimulate the our immunity to be able to fight off colds and flus and viral
infections of course as well so that’s sort of the combination that i do amongst other things of
course some of my other daily essentials like probiotics and things which i’ve talked about in
other videos so today i talked all about some of the supplements that i take more specifically
for my immunity and going into the cold winter season here in canada that’s really
important but you know for other people in other parts of the world as well these are great natural
tools that you can use to help to strengthen your immunity if you do have questions or comments
