COVID 19 vaccines teach the immune system to make antibodies against the virus’s spike protein, the part it uses to enter our cells. These antibodies block the spike protein from attaching to our cells and mark the virus for destruction. Immune cells then recognize and destroy the virus by engulfing it and protecting us from infection.
