We’re approaching respiratory viral season, and there are many different viruses that can make your child sick this fall and winter. There are three shots that can help protect them, the COVID 19 shot, the flu shot, and RSV. The COVID 19 shot and the flu shots are available for all children who are older than six months of age. You can get them at your pediatrician or your doctor’s office, and those over 12, they should be able to get that at a pharmacy as well. The RSV shot is available for children who are less than eight months of age, whose mothers did not get the RSV shot while they were pregnant. And then also for some children who were between eight and 19 months of age, if they have high risk conditions. You can get the RSV shot at your doctor’s office, and it should be available starting around the beginning of October. All three of these shots are very effective, while they won’t protect your child completely from ever getting sick with these viruses. They will protect them from getting severely ill or needing to be hospitalized or go to the doctor’s office. [MUSIC]
