hey babes it’s Dr Raven I want to tell you about how the virus that causes Co can hide from the immune system and live in different parts of your body and mutate it’s all in this paper that I have been reading over the past couple days cantry mechanisms of SARS KY 2 now in this paper they compare OG SARS SARS kov with the covid-19 SARS SARS kov 2 the OG SARS SARS kov and covid-19 SARS SARS kov to they’re both Corona viruses so Corona virus looks like this it’s got a ball whole bunch of on and those blue things are Spike proteins and those Spike proteins have a receptor binding domain where they can gain entry into the host cell and that thing looks like this okay so you see the thing you see that thing standing up on there that is the receptor binding uh domain on top of the spike protein so the receptor binding domain can either be up or down when it’s up it’s easier to bind to the whole cell to infect and that also makes it easier to be detected by the immune system or can be down which means it’s not available to infect and not easily detectable by the immune system however with SARS K2 the virus that causes covid-19 there is a newly evolved function you guys see that box here that is the code for the protein for the spike protein that new that’s SARS K2 that new box is a mutation guess what it evolved that thing said guess what I actually don’t even need to have my receptor binding d up I can do my job I can infect and you don’t even got to say me I’m just going to be cleaved by a proteas that and and be activated that way what that means is it’s going to take a while for your body to clear the virus because of that prolonged immune response because it can go undetected it can still replicate without being detected by your immune system so as the virus is replicating and is in different parts of your body it is still wreaking havoc even though you are no longer in what we call the acute phase of having covid um you may have even been asymptomatic not have any symptoms your Co infection might have happened four months ago could have happened 6 months ago but you will still have viral particles replicating in your body because it can hide
