MILAN, Ill. (KWQC) -Our landscapes may be dormant, but University of Illinois Extension has an abundance of winter programming in the Quad Cities that will get community members thinking and preparing for the upcoming growing season.
The following are upcoming programs for which interested viewers can register and participate:
On Jan. 7-28 at 1 p.m., the 8 Dimensions of Wellness begins at Butterworth Center, Moline, IL. This multi-session program explores key areas that contribute a balanced, fulfilling life. $10 per session or $35 for all four.On Jan. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. online (webinar), the Community Tree Care Series launches. This program is designed for anyone who has an affinity for community trees or who’s job includes managing a population of trees. Participants can attend one or all of the sessions. And for certified arborists, continuing education units are available. Each month, Emily Swihart will be hosting a Make and Take program where participants will learn about a unique horticulture topic and participate in a fun, hands-on activity related to the session. On Jan. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Illinois Extension ($10), the session focuses on Cut Flowers 101 on growing and arranging a flower bouquet. The February gathering will expand the indoor garden with houseplant propagation. On March 26 from 1 to 3 p.m., the session will help attendees prepare for garden season by starting favored seeds indoors.University of Illinois Extension’s annual Nursery School Gardening Symposium is scheduled for Feb. 21 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Vibrant Arena.
