YMCA News:

The Family YMCA has welcomed Kate Clevland to its wellness staff and is launching a new educational offering, Nutrition Basics: A 6-Week Foundations Course.

Designed to cut through confusing and often conflicting nutrition advice, the course provides clear, science-based education on how food supports energy, fullness, and overall health. The program focuses on understanding—not dieting or perfection—so participants can make confident, everyday food choices.

The course operates on an ongoing, rotating schedule. Each session stands alone, allowing participants to join at any point and attend missed topics during a future cycle.

Topics include:

How the body uses calories and energy
The role of protein, carbohydrates, fiber, and fats
Food quality, micronutrients, and hydration
Practical strategies for everyday eating

Sessions include instruction, time for questions, and access to recordings and resources.

Registration Information

The program is open to ages 16 and up and will be held Mondays at noon via Google Meet on Jan. 26; Feb. 2, 9, and 23; and March 2 and 9. The cost is $20 for YMCA members and $40 for non-members for the full cycle. Space is limited and advance registration is encouraged.
