A suspect is now in custody after Pennsylvania State Police said one person was shot outside of a Planet Fitness in Westmoreland County on Tuesday.”I can tell you that the actor is in custody right now,” PSP Trooper Steve Limani said. “He will be transported back to the barracks where he’ll eventually be arraigned.”State officials told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that the shooting occurred in the parking lot outside of the Planet Fitness at Crossroads Plaza in East Huntingdon. The incident was reported just after 1 p.m. “I pulled in, and the shooter was in a black truck and was leaving,” Charles Tamblyn, who witnessed part of what happened, said. “I went over to see if I could help the guy who got shot. He was on the ground.”We’re told witnesses tended to the male victim as emergency responders made their way to the scene. He is expected to survive. “We brought blankets,” Tamblyn said. “Everybody called 911. We kept talking to him and keeping him going.””There was a nurse that was here who was going to exercise at Planet Fitness, who was one of the people who swung into action,” Pennsylvania State Trooper Steve Limani said. “We’re very fortunate we had those people. Very fortunate that this person looks like they’re going to survive.”Police said the victim and the suspect both knew each other and that the shooting was not random. “This wasn’t random,” Limani said. “This was targeted. There’s not someone just randomly running around the Scottdale or Mount Pleasant area just randomly shooting people.”We’re told that after the shooting, the suspect, who has not been identified, left the scene in a pickup truck and was heading south towards Connellsville when he was apprehended. “This is scary,” Limani said. “It’s a shame that acts of violence like this happen. It’s completely uncalled for. As a community, I think we can do better.” Details on how the suspect was found were not made available. Charges are expected to be filed.
