Say hello to Maura Whalen, a woman who truly does it all. Nearly every day, you’ll find her doing what she loves most: selecting fresh flowers straight from her own yard. It’s all part of her passion project and business, Casablanca Floral, where Maura brings the beauty of the natural world indoors, one meaningful arrangement at a time.
Where the magic happens
Much of that creativity comes to life in Maura’s backyard studio, where she designs custom floral arrangements for her clients. But Maura’s artistry doesn’t stop with flowers. She’s also a serious home cook, a mom, an avid gardener, and someone who uses every inch of her home with purpose, especially her kitchen.
A kitchen that worked overtime—but not efficiently
Maura’s kitchen isn’t a “show kitchen.” It’s a workspace that sees daily action. Unfortunately, her cabinets and drawers weren’t keeping up with her lifestyle.
“I’m juggling a lot as a mom, homemaker, gardener, and cook,” she explains. “My kitchen is not that big, so having every square inch really matters.”
With a growing collection of pots, pans, and cooking tools, storage quickly became a problem.
“I have a plethora of pots and pans, and I know exactly what each one is for,” Maura laughs. “But I didn’t have a space for them. My mom would come to visit and be aghast that I was hiding things under the couch because there was no room!”
ShelfGenie to the rescue
Ready for a solution, Maura called ShelfGenie, and local expert Monica Singer stepped in to help. ShelfGenie’s glide-out shelves are designed to move effortlessly and hold up to 200 pounds, perfect for a busy kitchen like Maura’s.
A customized design that fits her life
Together, Monica and Maura explored options, tested samples, and measured every cabinet that needed improvement.
“To have a functional kitchen, you have to be able to see and access everything,” Monica explains. “Our goal is to design around how you use your kitchen and your specific items.”
From dividers to rotating corner shelves, every detail was thoughtfully planned. Once everything arrived, installation took less than a day.
A space in full bloom
Maura’s kitchen finally works as beautifully as it looks.
Pull-out shelves made cookbooks easy to reach. Corner cabinets were transformed with rotating storage. Pantry items, from pasta to cherry tomatoes, were suddenly visible, organized, and accessible.
Making a difference, one home at a time
For Monica, it’s about more than shelves.
“It makes me feel really good to be part of a company that comes into a home, makes a new friend, and delivers a product that truly makes a difference in everyday life.”
Just like Maura’s floral arrangements, ShelfGenie helped bring beauty, function, and simplicity together, proof that when the little things work better, life blooms brighter.
