LA PLATA, Md. — A free mother-daughter wellness class focused on stress relief, movement and positive self-image will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters in La Plata.
The class is offered through the Charles County Teen Court program and is designed to provide mothers and daughters with a shared, supportive space to connect while learning practical tools for emotional wellness. The session will center on breathing techniques, meditation, gentle movement and activities that promote confidence and healthy self-expression.
Organizers say the class encourages positive communication and relationship-building while helping participants develop strategies to manage stress and strengthen self-image in a safe, inclusive environment. The program also highlights the many ways families express themselves — from creativity and personal style to everyday conversations.
The class will take place from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at the CCSO Headquarters, 6915 Crain Highway, La Plata.
Teen Court enrichment classes are provided at no cost and are intended for the educational and personal development of youth in the community. All minors must attend with a parent or guardian.

What Is Teen Court?
Teen Court is a juvenile justice diversion program that allows first-time, nonviolent youth offenders — typically ages 13 to 17 — to avoid formal charges and a permanent juvenile record. Instead, they appear before a jury of their peers and receive sanctions such as community service, written apologies or participation in future Teen Court sessions.
Since its founding in 2001, Teen Court has helped thousands of Charles County teens take accountability while offering peers a hands-on education in the legal process.
