The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is alerting the public about a salmonella outbreak due to Super Greens supplement powders.

Anyone who has Live It Up Super Greens supplement powders is urged to throw them away immediately or return them to where they were purchased.

The CDC says 45 people across 21 states have become sick with the same strain of salmonella, and 12 people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

The company initiated a voluntary recall of the products on January 14.

The recalled powder has an expiration date ranging from August 2026 to January 2028. This include the original and wild berry flavors.

Additionally, consumers should wash items and surfaces that may have touched the recalled supplement powders with hot soapy water, or using a dishwasher.

According to the CDC, salmonella symptoms include:

DiarrheaFeverStomach cramps from six hours to six days after exposure

The illness usually lasts four-to-seven days, and most people recover without treatment, the CDC said.

However, the illness can cause hospitalization in some people, especially those younger than five or 65 and older.
