Bella Hadid is switching things up for her new gig.

The 29-year-old model, who stars in Ryan Murphy’s new FX show The Beauty, opened up about her transformation for the role at the New York City premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

“When I spoke to Ryan in the beginning, it was very much about being able to go out of my comfort zone,” Bella told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet. “I said, ‘Ryan, I want you to make me look haggard.’ I never want to be the girl next door.”

She continued, “I think I definitely went out of my comfort zone in many different ways. But he pushed me to be a different version of myself, which I’ve always wanted to do. I love adrenaline. I love the rush of being able to do stunts. I wouldn’t hurt a fly, which is the funniest part. But the stunt team was so amazing.”

The Orabella founder also admitted that she was “nervous” about her performance, but says she hopes she “did a decent job.”

The series’ trailer, which debuted Jan. 5, takes a closer look at “the beauty shot,” a new drug that “makes you effortlessly beautiful,” and how it impacts patients. For Bella’s character, the beauty shot went terribly wrong, and when she sees herself in the mirror she flies into a vicious, violent rampage.

In September 2025, Bella was hospitalized for chronic neurological Lyme disease, which she was diagnosed with at age 16. Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, shed light on her daughter’s condition in a post on Instagram at the time.

“The invisible disability of chronic neurological Lyme disease is hard to explain or understand for anyone,” Yolanda wrote. “I try to lead by example on our Lyme journey but my own pain cannot compare to watching my baby suffer.”

The Beauty is scheduled to debut on FX and Hulu on Disney+ on Jan. 21.
