The FDA says that 45 people in 21 states began reporting that they felt ill on Aug. 22, with more Salmonella cases being reported through Dec. 30, 2025. Sixteen people confirmed they’d consumed the Super Greens powder before becoming ill.
According to the company website, one cup of the supplement powder contains the nutrients of three cups of vegetables. It’s usually mixed with water or made into a smoothie.
The highest number of Salmonella cases was reported in Wisconsin, but as the FDA points out, cases have been identified in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, and Washington.
No deaths have been reported, but 12 people have been hospitalized, the agency says.
“We’re currently in the process of reviewing the situation related to this product and working closely with the appropriate teams to determine next steps,” Live It Up told PEOPLE when reached for comment.
For anyone who has the recalled product in their home, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control recommends throwing it away or returning it to the point of purchase. “Wash items and surfaces that may have touched the recalled Super Greens supplement powders using hot soapy water or a dishwasher,” the agency advises.

If you consumed the product and have any symptoms of Salmonella, the CDC advises you to call your healthcare provider immediately. Symptoms include diarrhea that lasts for three days or is bloody, a high fever (above 102°F), vomiting, and dehydration.
Salmonella can contaminate food in various ways, the CDC says, either through the water used to grow fruits and vegetables, or by cross-contamination caused by unwashed hands or food preparation instruments.
This is the second Salmonella outbreak linked to dietary supplement in recent months. In November, different supplements linked to a recalled batch of organic moringa leaf powder from Vallon Farmdirect of Johdpur, India, caused a salmonella outbreak that sickened 11 people, with 3 requiring hospitalization.
