NEW LENOX, IL — Orangetheory Fitness New Lenox-Frankfort will host its 3rd Annual SSERT Marathon Relay on Saturday, Jan. 17, a high-energy fitness event that raises funds for a vital south suburban agency.

Set for 10 a.m. at the studio located at 2081 East Laraway Rd., the fundraiser encourages the local community to push their physical limits in support of the South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT). SSERT is a regional, multi-agency SWAT unit dedicated to handling high-risk operations in more than 34 south suburban communities.

Teams of four to six participants will complete a full marathon relay-style on the treadmill, organizers said. The event is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to call the studio at (815)669-1800 to reserve a spot or join a team on the day of the event. Participation requires a minimum donation of $30, with all proceeds directly benefiting SSERT’s essential training, equipment, and operational needs.

“This event is one of the most energizing and meaningful days we have each year,” said Morgan Lamb, Head of Fitness at Orangetheory Fitness New Lenox-Frankfort. “Our members and guests show up ready to move for a mission, and it’s a powerful reminder that fitness can fuel something much greater when we come together for a cause.”

SSERT plays a critical role in regional safety, responding to complex and dangerous incidents such as hostage rescues, active shooter situations, and high-risk warrants. The organization operates as a non-profit, relying on community fundraising, grants, and member dues to maintain its advanced tactical readiness.

“We’re honored to support SSERT for the third consecutive year,” said Lamb. “This team works tirelessly behind the scenes to protect our communities. Hosting this event is just one small way we can give back to those who serve.”
