An official ribbon-cutting for the new Emporia State University Nursing and Student Wellness Center is coming next week.
The ribbon cutting will be held at the center located next to ESU’s Cremer Hall on Thursday. Along with university leadership, several state dignitaries are expected for the occassion including Kansas Governor Laura Kelly, Speaker of the House and Emporia State alum Dan Hawkins, and former Kansas Lt. Governor and ESU alum Gary Sherrer.
The new, roughly 32,000 square foot three-story facility was fully funded by private donations and has facilitated the return of ESU’s nursing program to the university campus after long being housed at Newman Regional Health’s Cora Miller Hall. Development of the facility came as part of Emporia State’s restructuring efforts that began back in late 2021 under the leadership of now-retired ESU President Ken Hush.
Thursday’s ribbon cutting is invitation only, with a public open house scheduled for later in the spring.
