Mikel Arteta reported that there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of our trip to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday, January 17.

After back-to-back wins in cup competitions over Portsmouth and Chelsea, we return to league action at the City Ground, and the boss is hoping to welcome back some of those who have been sidelined so far in 2026.

“It might be (time),” Mikel said at the Sobha Realty Training Centre on Friday, “I need to meet now with the medical staff.

“We have a training session now and we’ll see if somebody is available for the weekend.”

Asked if there was anyone in particular who may become available, the boss said that he wouldn’t know until after the training session following his press conference.

The majority of our current injuries are to defenders, with Piero Hincapie being forced off in our last league game against Liverpool, while Riccardo Calafiori and Cristhian Mosquera have been out since 2025.

Despite these being among many other defensive injuries this season, we haven’t conceded three times in a single game since December 2023 in a 4-3 win away to Luton Town.

Mikel pointed to our organisation and desire as the reasons for this outstanding record.

“With the right level of organisation, but especially with the desire to play, shown every day, and the commitment that they show to do all the duties that are necessary for us to be a team that is very difficult to play against and to score against.”
