Vivek Oberoi continues to be one of the most discussed names in Bollywood, despite making only occasional appearances on the big screen today. Although his acting journey did not stretch as long as several of his peers, the powerful impact of his initial successes and the constant attention surrounding his personal life have ensured that he remains a subject of public interest. Over time, many narratives emerged suggesting that he faded away from films due to industry politics and organised lobbying. However, this widely held belief only tells part of the story.

Celebrity fitness expert Vinod Channa, who once worked closely with Vivek Oberoi, recently offered deeper insight into the actor’s life during one of his most challenging phases. In an interview with Hindi Rush, Vinod explained that a serious accident and the physical trauma that followed played a crucial role in Vivek gradually stepping away from frequent film projects. Reflecting on the early 2000s, Vinod shared that Vivek had suffered a severe mishap that left him with multiple injuries. According to him, this incident became a major factor behind the actor’s reduced presence in cinema. While many people believed emotional distress pushed him away from the industry, Vinod clarified that the reality involved long-term physical suffering that made regular work difficult.

Beyond discussing the accident, Vinod Channa also highlighted Vivek Oberoi’s abilities outside the world of acting. He described him as an exceptionally gifted individual with remarkable business acumen. Vinod expressed admiration for Vivek’s understanding of entrepreneurship and strategic thinking, stating that even professionals with formal management degrees seek his insights. According to him, Vivek possesses a rare and advanced skill set that goes far beyond performance in front of the camera.
Vivek Oberoi himself has previously spoken openly about the contradictions he faced during his career peak. Despite delivering successful films and receiving praise for his performances, he claimed that meaningful opportunities were still hard to come by. He once explained that there was a period when his projects performed well, yet offers inexplicably dried up. Feeling sidelined by a system driven by influence and internal networks, he said an individual in such a situation is left with two choices: surrender to despair or treat adversity as motivation to carve out a new path and take control of one’s future.

In an earlier conversation with Mashable India, Vivek revisited the frightening incident that nearly claimed his life while filming his 2002 movie Road. He recalled that the accident occurred during a night drive in Rajasthan, while travelling from Bikaner to Jaisalmer. Despite repeatedly requesting the driver to slow down due to poor visibility, the situation turned disastrous. The experience left a lasting impression on him, to the extent that he has avoided sitting in the front seat of a car ever since.
