(JONESBORO, Ark.) — The Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) is building a state-of-the-art Wellness Center at its Jonesboro Human Development Center to provide comprehensive medical care for the adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities who live there.
Residents will be able to see a doctor, dentist, therapist, and behavioral health specialist in one place—reducing travel, delays, and disruptions to care. The modern facility reflects DHS’s commitment to enhancing quality of life and promoting the highest standards of health, independence, and care.

“This Wellness Center will dramatically improve how our residents receive care—bringing critical medical, dental, and therapeutic services together in one place,” said DHS Division of Developmental Disabilities Services Director Jennifer Brezée. “We are thankful for the continued support and leadership from Gov. Sanders, Rep. Jack Ladyman, and many others in the state legislature and community, who have worked to make this investment in our residents’ health possible.”
Residents currently must travel off-site for some services. This project eliminates long wait times and transportation barriers. Located on the Jonesboro Human Development Center campus, the 13,000-square-foot medical facility will be a modern, fully integrated health center.
“This project shows how DHS is modernizing care for Arkansans with disabilities by investing in on-site, high-quality medical services that improve outcomes and reduce long-term costs,” said DHS Secretary Janet Mann. “We look forward to having this new Wellness Center where all our residents can receive quality care.”
Construction is underway, with the center expected to open in 2027.
