SALT LAKE CITY — There’s that saying: if you know better, you do better. In the world of health and beauty, if you know better, you do differently.

Beauty Expert Megan Moore said we’re seeing a significant shift in skin care that will affect your routine for the positive. She shared what trends are out and what’s in for 2026.

OUT: 10+ Step Skincare Routines
IN: Intentional, Consistent Routines

For years, skin care was all about “more is more.” Your bathroom counter may have been overflowing with serums, toners, boosters and treatments. Moore said that mindset is fading as consumers are more selective and research shows that simple, yet strategic routines often see better results.

“The science is there where we don’t need as many products,” she explained. “I think what we’ve realized is that less products, but more intentional products used consistently over a longer span of time, actually work better.”

OUT: Aggressive Anti-Aging
IN: Regeneration & Longevity

The battle against aging isn’t gone, but the tactics are changing. Moore said there is a major shift away from the old belief that effective skincare should burn, peel or feel uncomfortable.

“We almost tortured ourselves,” she said. “What we’re realizing now is … looking at the long term and creating healthy tissue. It’s about healthy skin at a cellular level and not this, like, surface level vanity that anti-aging used to be.”

She added that new technologies mimic the components of young, healthy skin, replenishing what naturally declines with age. This supports long‑term improvement and is a much more holistic approach to anti-aging.

OUT: False Glow
IN: Glow From Healthy Skin

Glowy, dewy skin has been the trend for years, but Moore said the goal now is shifting from faking glow to actually developing it.

“We were creating this kind of false glow which would give us the illusion of healthy skin,” she said.

People tended to rely on luminous foundations, pearlescent highlighters and dewy formulas to get that look on the surface. Now, we’re moving toward achieving genuine skin health instead of using makeup tricks.

“If we actually have healthier skin on a cellular level and we’re using products that help that kind of external glow really exist, we don’t need that fake stuff anymore,” Moore explained.

She recommended a Korean beauty line called Rejuran. She explained that it accomplishes all of these trend shifts for healthier skin.

“It’s so easy to use,” she said. “If you’re gonna start something new for the new year, this is a great place to start.”
