BOISE – The Idaho Department of Finance, in partnership with the Idaho Financial Literacy Coalition (IFLC), is pleased to announce the 16th Annual Piggy Bank Beauty Contest. Now in its sixteenth year, the contest invites Idaho students in grades 3–6 to combine creativity with practical money skills by designing a coin-holding bank of any shape, using any materials.
Entries will be accepted February 1–28, 2026. One entry per child is allowed. Piggy bank submissions may be uploaded as a photo or submitted via the IFLC contest page: https://idahoflc.org/piggy-bank-about/. The contest is open to students from public, charter, private, remote, and home schools, as well as childcare facilities and after‑school programs across Idaho.
As a new element for 2026, each entrant and their teacher will receive a grade-appropriate financial education lesson and accompanying activity designed to reinforce important saving concepts. Ten semi-finalists in each grade category (3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th) will be selected by March 4, 2026, and public online voting will run March 6–20, 2026, to determine one winner per grade category. Winners from each category will receive a $250 contribution to an IDeal 529 Education Savings Account, plus other prizes.
Held in conjunction with America Saves Week, the Piggy Bank Beauty Contest encourages hands-on learning about the value of money, the importance of saving, and the consequences of financial choices in a fun, accessible format. The IFLC’s digital submission option helps ensure students statewide can participate.
