El Paso may have a slightly different view as far as what is truly “nutritional” than other places but an El Paso fave just got some official recognition.

We’ve been wanting to believe this our whole lives, now science is backing us up – tacos ARE a health food.

Newsweek … a genuine, legit news source; not the “Taco Times or your primo … says a study by the Universidad de las Américas has given a thumbs up to pork tacos and taken granola bars down a notch.

We’ve always known tequila is actually good for you, now we can wolf down some tacos too with a clear conscience. El Paso, you’re welcome.

Good News About Tacos

The Newsweek article says one guy lost 50 pounds by changing his diet to 80 percent tacos – 12 per day. He even went so far as to say tacos were a “fountain of youth”. Honestly, who are we to argue?

Flautas Are Good Too

The tacos contained 20.77 percent carbohydrates and the flautas contained 40.7 percent carbohydrates. Tacos and the flautas contained around the same amount of fat—around 11.5 and 11.92 percent respectively. Protein, which is where the tacos win again, have 23.51 percent, while the flautas have less than 4.07 percent. – Newsweek

Different brands of Granola bars came in with different amounts of fat, averaging between 20 and 30 percent. They also have additives like sweeteners, seeds, chocolate, etc that raise their fat levels and lower their health stats.
