Stephen Morrison, 42, from Easingwold, is the owner of Complete Life Fitness in Audax Close, Clifton Moor.

The business has been shortlisted by readers of The Press as one of the best ten gyms in the city.

The performance, posture and rehabilitation specialist said the studio has evolved into a specialist clinic which many of his clients describe as “almost magical”, particularly those suffering from acute and long-term pain.

Stephen said: “Being nominated is genuinely humbling.

“We are a small studio and most of our growth has come purely by word of mouth, so to be recognised by the local community means a great deal.

“It shows that people value not just fitness, but being understood, supported and helped back to a better quality of life.”

Stephen said Complete Life Fitness regularly works with people from across the UK and abroad, including traffic accident victims and those with long-standing pain who have exhausted conventional options, adding that medical professionals use its service themselves for rehab.

The gym has picked up prizes from Yorkshire Prestige Awards and Quality Business Awards, both for personal training services.

Stephen said: “Our approach combines advanced biomechanics with neurological strategies and carefully selected exercise rehabilitation.

“It is shaped by constant learning through specialist seminars, online education, collaboration with professionals across disciplines, and discoveries made through working with complex cases every day.

“Our biggest recent investment has been in education and innovation.

“We regularly attend specialist seminars in neurology, biomechanics and posture correction, and we are developing new tools and systems to help clients recover more effectively.

“This has significantly improved both the member experience, and the outcomes people achieve.”

The Complete Life Fitness owner said success there is measured by client progress, confidence and long-term wellbeing.

He said: “Seeing people return to activities they love is what makes us most proud.

“Recently, we were featured in The Press after helping a client walk again following severe mobility problems.

“Another success story is a lecturer in neuroscience, who had suffered years of nerve pain in her feet and believed she would never run again.

“After just two sessions, she returned to running and went on to form a running club at her university.”

Stephen said over the next 12 to 24 months, Complete Life Fitness aims to develop more of an exercise-clinic style space to expand rehabilitation systems and postural correction tools and increase awareness of its services beyond word-of-mouth.

He said: “I would like to thank all of our clients and supporters who believed in us, trusted us with their recovery, and recommended us to friends and family.

“Running a small independent business is never easy, and their support, encouragement and loyalty have made this journey possible.

“This nomination truly belongs to the whole community that has helped us grow.”
