Chandigarh: The UT administration is examining plans to introduce fitness, yoga, wellness and mind-body healing facilities, along with a cafeteria, at Leisure Valley in Sec 10.UT home secretary Mandip Singh Brar inspected the area Monday to review its condition, upkeep and available public amenities. During the visit, he assessed the walking and jogging tracks and directed the engineering dept to carry out immediate repair work on stretches requiring attention.Brar asked depts to explore options for incorporating yoga and exercise facilities to promote health-focused recreational use of the space. He also instructed officials to study the feasibility of setting up a cafe while ensuring cleanliness and green safeguards.The Chandigarh College of Architecture has been tasked with preparing a design proposal within 15 days. The plan will integrate fitness, yoga and wellness features while retaining existing trails and equipment, and will align with the master plan vision of Leisure Valley as an important green lung of the city. tnnMunicipal commissioner Amit Kumar, chief engineer C B Ojha, chief architect Rajiv Kumar Mehta and CCA principal Dr Sangeeta Bagga were present during the inspection.A UT spokesperson said the visit was part of ongoing efforts to improve public infrastructure and enhance recreational spaces.
