The cold and snow didn’t stop Davenport University’s Sibs & Kids Day from attracting a crowd of students, parents and children looking for a good time at the university’s W.A. Lettinga Grand Rapids Campus on Jan. 31.

This annual event is a favorite among the Davenport community because campus comes alive with children of all ages who get to experience fun, food, fitness and more in the university’s action-packed Student Activity Center.

The families enjoyed a variety of activities, including inflatables, face painting, a photo booth, airbrush tattoos, crafts and games. They also had an opportunity to go ice skating at Patterson Ice Center and watch the men’s and women’s basketball games while enjoying free popcorn and a slushy.

Danielle Pipal, assistant director of Student Life, said it’s a fun event for adults and kids alike.

“It’s so heart-warming to see families have these sweet, connected and fun moments at Davenport together,” she said

Kids who participated also got some free DU swag from the Athletic Department. For many of them, getting a DU T-shirt was especially exciting because it was the first piece of university clothing they had ever received.”

“It’s also a neat opportunity for DU students to show off their campus and experience Davenport with their siblings or kids in a really intentional way,” Pipal said. “It’s just a wonderful event.”
