Immunity: Jackfruit is a great source of Vitamin C and antioxidants, which can strengthen your immune system. A strong immune system can protect the body from many common diseases such as cough, cold and flu.
Ingredients :-
1 cup toor dal
3 tsp Peanut oil
1 tsp-mustard, 1-dried red chilly ,½ tsp-fenugreek seed (for tempering)
½ tsp – turmeric
1 tsp Rock salt
pinch hinge / asafetida/katti parugayam
2 tsp sambar powder(homemade)
few curry leaves
15 shallots( Chopped halves)
1 tomato( med size chopped)
10 pieces drumstick
15 pieces jack-fruit seed
2 cup water
½ cup tamarind extract (60ml)
Prepration (Step By Step process) :-
First steam Dal with a pinch of fenugreek ,drumstick and jackfruit seed separate bowl.
Then in a clay pot heat 3 tsp oil and splutter tempering (medium Flame)
Add shallots with curry leaves and turmeric sauté for 2 minutes.
Add tomato and rock salt sauté until tomatoes soften.
Further, add cooked drumstick and jack seed 2 tbsp sambar powder and 1 tsp Rock salt.
Sauté for a minute until spices turn aromatic.
Now add toor dal , adjust the consistency adding water as required.
Boil for 5 minutes or until flavors are absorbed well.
Additionally, add ½ cup tamarind extract and stir well.
Continue to boil for 5 minutes or until the raw flavor of tamarind is gone.
Finally, add curry leaves and enjoy sambar with hot steamed rice.
