Seattle-based Seattle Strength & Performance is opening its first Eastside location in Mercer Island.

Opening in late April, this will be SSP’s fifth location, with other gyms located in  Seattle’s Queen Anne, Phinney Ridge, West Seattle, and Ballard neighborhoods.

The Mercer Island branch will feature strength and conditioning classes and one-on-one personal training with coaches. The programs offered at SSP will focus on functional strength, injury prevention, and encourage sustainable everyday habits, a press release said. People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join.

“Expanding to the Eastside has been a long-term goal of ours,” said Chris Travis, owner and CEO of SSP, in the release. “We’re excited to become part of the Mercer Island community and provide a space where people can build strength, move well, and feel supported throughout their fitness journey.”

The gym currently has more than 1,000 members at its Seattle locations and expects to open one more gym by the end of the year.

SSP is currently inviting Mercer Island residents to reserve a spot on its waitlist to join before its opening.

The new Seattle Strength & Performance will be located at 8441 SE 68th St., Suite 105.
