MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Visitors to Spirit of Macon Park in downtown Macon can now practice Tai Chi on their own, thanks to a new instructional sign installed this week by the Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority.
The sign includes illustrated instructions for the Tai Chi movement sequence known as “Grasp the Bird’s Tail,” according to an email from MBCTA spokesperson Jami Gaudet. It also includes two QR codes that link to videos and additional guidance.
The goal is to make wellness activities accessible in the park at any time, even when an instructor isn’t there.
Gaudet said a schedule for in-person classes is coming soon.
The park recently opened as a wellness-focused space. It’s already set to host free monthly fitness activities, including yoga, Zumba and meditation.
Spirit of Macon Park is located on Poplar Street in downtown Macon, right next to Terminal Station.
