“Survivor” is about to kick off its 50th season. The TV show is celebrating by placing a hidden immunity idol in every state, and Kentucky got to participate in that celebration at the Mega Cavern. Hundreds of “Survivor” fans lined up to sign waivers so they could put on helmets and harnesses, and the confidence needed to tackle the course with an immunity idol at the end. Siblings Tina and David Jackson attended the event. They grew up watching the show together. Even though David lives in Ohio, he still made a six-hour drive to get in line with his sister Thursday morning.“It’s been really fun to, like, meet people in line who have a lot of similar things in common with us. And talk ‘Survivor’ and casting for season 50, and who we’re excited about seeing,” Tina said.Everyone who finds the idol is entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip to the finale of “Survivor 50”. Lena Frank was further back in line but still excited at the idea of getting to make the trip.“I would be very excited. I would be so starstruck, just to be at the finale,” Frank said. She hopes to have a better chance of winning a trip by collecting four idols in four different states. Kentucky is her third. “It’s more physical versus a couple of the other locations I’ve been to. So it’s actually really fun. I think having a challenge makes the three-hour wait kind of worth getting the prize for it,” Frank said. David Tenczar, regional producer of the challenge, has four more states to travel to after this.“We’re here to kind of engage the audience. Get everyone out here. They’re meeting each other in line, getting to talk about the show, favorite seasons, favorite alumni, people who have been on the show,” Tenczar said. “Everybody’s in a really good mood.”Officials at the Mega Cavern are grateful it was one of the stops.“We know that on TripAdvisor we’re the number one thing to do in the state of Kentucky. So, I can see why they did ,” Smith said. “It’s just a great opportunity for, people, especially in the local area to come out here to kind of see something new that they may not have seen,” Tyler Smith Operations Manager at the Mega Caverns said. The 50th season of “Survivor” premieres Feb. 25 on WLKY.

“Survivor” is about to kick off its 50th season. The TV show is celebrating by placing a hidden immunity idol in every state, and Kentucky got to participate in that celebration at the Mega Cavern.
