A new-to-market, class-based fitness concept plans to open in a retail space at downtown Milwaukee’s Ascent apartment tower.

According to a permit filed with the City of Milwaukee, Flight will occupy approximately 2,100 square feet at the building, located at 700 E. Kilbourn Ave.

Ascent, a 259-unit apartment tower developed by Milwaukee-based New Land Enterprises, opened in 2022 with about 7,000 square feet of first-floor retail space. Most of that space is slated to be occupied by āya, an upscale Mediterranean restaurant expected to open later this year.

Flight, which operates three locations in the Twin Cities area, offers high-intensity classes that combine StairMaster cardio and strength training, according to its website.

The permit indicates the buildout will cost at least $190,000. Plans call for two new clustered restroom facilities with showers, a storage room, lockers, ACT ceilings and a large fitness area for class equipment.

The Milwaukee studio is expected to open this spring, according to a post on Flight’s Instagram account.
