In March, Guerlain will unveil three new alcohol-free fragrances that blend the olfactory intensity of a perfume with the benefits of a moisturizing mist.
Named Aqua Allegoria Perle, this new-generation eau de parfum harnesses the scented-pearl technology developed by the Swiss company Microcaps. Instead of being diluted in an alcohol base, the fragrance concentrate is encapsulated in natural alginate microbeads suspended in an alcohol-free aqueous formula. Preserved at high concentration within these capsules, the ingredients remain protected until application, when they burst on the skin to release an intense, long-lasting scent.
According to the LVMH-owned brand, the technology “delivers the same fragrance concentration as an alcohol-based eau de parfum.” Enriched with plant-derived glycerin and infused with floral water, the formula features a gel texture that melts seamlessly into the skin. A gentle massage transforms it into a soft, velvety veil with hydrating benefits.
The Microcaps technology also adds a distinctive visual signature to the range: the iconic bottles of the Aqua Allegoria collection unveil a constellation of delicate, translucent pearls — each one encapsulating the fragrance within.

Three fragrances from the Aqua Allegoria collection — Florabloom, Rosa Rossa, and Nérolia Vetiver — have now been reimagined as micro-pearl eau de parfum.
Prior to its collaboration with Guerlain, Microcaps had already partnered with Kajal Paris for Lamar Caviar Perfume d’Eau, Xerjoff for Newcleus, and Enjoy Care for Nucleo Unisex Perfume.
In 2024, Microcaps raised 9.3 million Swiss francs for its alginate-based perfume pearl technology.
