MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) -The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South announced a new challenge in partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to support research and treatment for children fighting cancer and other serious illnesses.

On Monday afternoon, the YMCA kicked off a six-week fitness and fundraising event named the 105-Mile Challenge to raise support for St. Jude’s cancer research.

The 105-Mile Challenge represents the distance from the Fogelman Downtown YMCA location, around all Memphis-area YMCA locations, and back to the St. Jude campus.

Participants can walk, run, bike, swim, or attend group exercise classes to log miles at their local YMCA.

The YMCA encourages members to collectively move 105 miles over a six-week period.

The 105-Mile Challenge also encourages participants to donate $105, with funds supporting cancer research and helping cover expenses for patients and their families.

“This partnership reflects the heart of the YMCA’s mission; strengthening community through health, wellness, and social responsibility,” said Brian McLaughlin, President & CEO of YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South. “By joining forces with St. Jude, we are turning healthy habits into hope for families who need it most.”
