Private health insurance premiums will rise at their fastest rate in eight years after the Albanese government approved an above-inflation increase that will affect more than 14 million people from the start of April.
Health Minister Mark Butler announced the 4.41 per cent increase in the average insurance policy on Tuesday, saying it reflected the costs of medical and hospital services, which rose 5 per cent in the past financial year.
