DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University gymnastics team will host its annual Beauty and the Beast Meet this Friday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. against Southeast Missouri State and Wilberforce at the NIU Convocation Center while NIU wrestling competes against SIUE. Admission is free.

Friday night will also be senior night for the Huskies and the team will recognize seniors Jocelyn Harbeck, Samantha Nickle and Kiera O’Shea following the meet.

NIU set a new season high on vault in its last time out against Bowling Green on Sunday, finishing with a team score of 48.850 and sweeping the top three finishes. Junior Dawsyn Sallee (Versailles, Ky./Woodford County High) tied a career-high on vault with a 9.850 and took first in the routine.

Harbeck (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and sophomore Drake White (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) also tied career-highs in the meet. Harbeck earned a score of 9.800 on vault to finish second while White posted a 9.825, tying for fourth.

Junior Mikayla Brown (Suwanee, Ga./Peachtree Ridge) was the other winner for the Huskies, taking first place on beam with a 9.800.

The Opponents

SEMO competed against Illinois State last Saturday, winning 194.150-192.475. Taylor Ingle is an all-around for the Redhawks and qualified for NCAA Regionals last season. The senior has an all-around NQS of 38.930, as well as a 9.815 on floor and 9.775 on vault.  

Wilberforce scored a season-high 184.875 in its last meet against Fisk and were led by Diamond Cook, who won on floor with a program record score of 9.825. Sydney Smith holds the highest average on both vault and bars for the Bulldogs.
