Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 10% equity stake in HBL Pro2col Software, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Herbalife, which operates the Pro2col digital wellness technology.

According to Herbalife, Pro2col is a personal health and wellness operating system that has been developed to ‘drive daily engagement, sustainable behavior change, and measurable outcomes through a structured, data-driven approach to wellness’.

Ronaldo has invested $7.5 million in the business, along with a commitment to providing services and sponsorship rights.

The Portuguese star has been Herbalife’s global nutrition partner since 2013, and previously collaborated on the launch of the Herbalife24 CR7 Drive sports drink.

‘Important milestone’

“Cristiano has been a valued partner for more than a decade, and his decision to take an ownership stake in Pro2col marks an important milestone in our relationship,” commented Stephan Gratziani, chief executive of Herbalife. “His investment reflects a shared belief in the power of nutrition, data, AI, and personalised insights to drive better health outcomes, and reinforces his confidence in the future impact of Pro2col.”

Pro2col has been developed to tailor its health and wellness plan specifically to the individual, with daily habits and smart nutrition tracking. It relies on the ‘Pro2Score’ proprietary scoring mechanism to track progress across key health metrics and deliver actionable insights to users.

Herbalife noted that the partnership with Ronaldo aligns with its broader long-term strategy to become a more connected, data-driven health and wellness platform. The Pro2col platform is currently in a phased beta rollout in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, with the company expecting to roll it out to select EMEA markets later this year.

‘Shared ambition’

“After more than a decade together, our relationship is built on trust and shared ambition,” Ronaldo commented. “Investing in Pro2col felt like a natural evolution – in addition to representing Herbalife, this is about helping shape and grow a platform that can truly change how people engage with their health and wellness.”

He added that his work alongside Herbalife has helped motivate him “at this stage of my career”.

Herbalife was founded in 1980, and today operates in more than 90 markets around the world. Read more here.
