Being a big winter sports enthusiast, I watched many hours of the Winter Olympics. Watching the closing ceremony today, it struck me how cynical and disgusting Putin of Russia was 11 years ago as Russia hosted the event in Sochi, knowing the whole time he was about to invade Ukraine and Crimea. It angers me that he cynically used this testament to human achievements and cooperation as cover for his criminal murder and warfare.
What are the only two countries to host the Olympics and then start a war? Russia and Nazi Germany. Such distinguished company.
I hope Putin rots in hell and his forces are finally and utterly extinguished this year. They are fully deserving of the disgrace they have earned. He has got his country banned from the Olympics for a stupid and unhistorical vision to give Russia more land when it should be developing the human resources it has instead of destroying them.
The Olympics are a symbolic testament to the best of humanity. Putin is literally a real testament to its worst.
