Sarah Ferguson reportedly spent ample time—nearly a month—at an expensive wellness retreat in Switzerland ahead of her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest. The former Prince Andrew was detained on February 19, his 66th birthday, for suspicion of misconduct in public office.Sarah apparently spent time at Paracelsus Recovery from shortly after Christmas until late January, with her stay costing over $17,000 per night.

Before her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest on February 19, Sarah Ferguson had reportedly checked herself into a luxury wellness clinic in Switzerland even as the former Duke and Duchess of York’s scandal surrounding their involvement with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein escalated in the public eye.

According to multiple outlets, Sarah checked into Paracelsus Recovery after Christmas and stayed there through late January. After Andrew’s arrest on Thursday—which doubled as his 66th birthday—Sarah’s exact whereabouts are unknown, though she is said to have spent time in both the French Alps and the United Arab Emirates as of late. Andrew was arrested around 8 a.m. on Thursday and spent about 11 hours in custody, being released after 7 p.m. that same day. He was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, allegedly leaking classified information to Epstein when he served as a U.K. trade envoy from 2001 to 2011.

“She always feels at home at Paracelsus, and knows she’ll get love and attention there, as well as expert health treatment when she’s feeling at her most vulnerable,” a source told The Daily Mail.

Another insider added that Sarah has “a strong relationship with Paracelsus, so it was the obvious place for her to get away from everything.”

Tensions began mounting over the former couple’s association with Epstein in the fall, with both surrendering their respective Duke and Duchess of York titles in October 2025. By the end of the month, Andrew’s older brother King Charles had stripped him of all of his royal titles and privileges, and in early February Andrew and Sarah were evicted from the 30-room mansion they shared, Royal Lodge, on the Windsor estate. Though Andrew and Sarah divorced in 1996, she moved in with him in 2008, five years after Andrew began living on the property. Andrew moved from Royal Lodge to the Sandringham estate—Wood Farm, specifically—but Sarah is no longer expected to live with him.

Paracelsus Recovery told People in a statement, “As a matter of policy, we never confirm or deny whether any individual is or has been under our care.” The Swiss treatment center has programs ranging from around $122,000 to $154,000 per week, which breaks down to $17,428 to $22,000 per night. Amenities include a personal chef, a chauffeur, and a stay in a private lakefront penthouse, per People.

While there’s no evidence as of yet for any criminal wrongdoing on Sarah’s part, “The police may have a basis for questioning Sarah Ferguson [as] she may be a relevant witness in this case,” a top barrister told Page Six. “They may want to ask her some questions.”

One day after Andrew’s arrest, a source told The Daily Mail that Sarah was “in a bad way. She’s been telling people she is really suffering with her mental health and thinks everyone is out to get her.”

When it comes to Andrew, Sarah “has stood by him all these years but is now ready to spread her wings,” an insider told Hello!. “She won’t be moving in with him to the new house on the Sandringham estate. She won’t be moving into [Princess] Beatrice’s Cotswold home, though. [Princess] Eugenie’s home in Portugal is a contender while she finds somewhere.”

“Sarah is sofa-surfing on a global scale by moving around every few days and deliberately not telling people where she has been staying until she’s left the location,” a source told The Daily Mail. “She is paranoid her location will be discovered, so is moving frequently. She notifies friends of her last location only once she has safely moved on to the next. She wants to avoid being photographed. The girls would hate for their mother to be seen looking startled and fraught like former Prince Andrew.”

While Beatrice’s whereabouts are also unknown, Eugenie was seen with her family at a ski resort in Switzerland the day before Andrew’s arrest last week.
