After a long workday, a Bastrop resident steps into a softly lit room, closes the door and lies back under warm red light. For 20 minutes, there are no emails to answer, no errands to run and no notifications buzzing; just warmth, quiet and a reset.
That moment of pause is what Palm Beach Tan is bringing to Bastrop with the opening of its newest location: a return to a market the ownership group has known for years.
The owners previously operated a Blockbuster in Bastrop, giving them familiarity with the community and its growth. After watching the area expand, they determined the timing was right to introduce Palm Beach Tan’s expanded, wellness-focused concept.

According to regional sales manager Jax Smith, the red light facial panel can be used for the face or to target areas such as surgical scars. The lay-down red light and infrared bed provides full-body exposure and is often used by clients seeking help with pain or metabolism support.
The four-in-one wellness booth includes salt therapy, which Smith said is beneficial for people with asthma, allergies, respiratory dysfunction or those recovering from a cold. It also features chromotherapy, which consists of different colored lights such as green, yellow, red, blue and violet. For example, green light can help calm the skin and mind, creating what Smith described as a soothing experience.
In addition to in-store services, the Bastrop location carries physician-formulated skincare products, including a line featuring plant stem cells and exosomes. The store also offers customizable at-home self-tanning products through its Spray Your Way line, which allows customers to color match their tan and choose from multiple fragrance options, or go fragrance-free.
Staff members are trained and Smart Tan certified, equipping them to help clients select products and services safely and confidently.
While some people associate tanning salons strictly with getting tan, many customers view their visits as a 10-minute vacation or a moment of therapy during a stressful day.
“Our brand is about feeling good about yourself, falling in love with yourself and feeling confident,” Smith said.
Flexible memberships
To make services accessible, Palm Beach Tan offers several membership options, from entry-level memberships at $59 per month to all-access memberships at $149 per month.
Memberships are contract-free and can be used at any Palm Beach Tan location nationwide. First-time guests receive their first experience free.
A national brand with local roots
Though Palm Beach Tan operates as a national corporation, the Bastrop location is locally operated. The ownership group is based in Austin and Dallas, and the Bastrop management team includes local residents and former tanning business owners.
The company is already a member of the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce. They’re looking forward to participating in more community support efforts, including supporting school fundraisers and charity events. Over the years, Smith and her team have collected coats and school supplies during seasonal drives and donated towels to local animal shelters.
To celebrate the Bastrop opening, the store will host a five-day grand opening event starting March 7. They will offer 50% off the first month of memberships and 50% off products, as well as a chance to win a free year of tanning and wellness services.
During the event, guests can try services, receive giveaways and merchandise, and enjoy snacks and drinks while meeting the Bastrop team.
