The Nestlé Vital range includes two flagship formulations: Morning Routine, formulated for focus, energy and strength, and Evening Routine for sleep, muscle mass and healthy skin, both of which will be launched in Latin America, followed by Europe and Asia.
Containing a blend of proteins, fibers, vitamins, minerals and patented bioactive blends, both products are designed to address the specific nutritional needs associated with aging.
“With nearly half the world projected to be over 40 by 2040 and most adults failing to meet recommended daily intakes for essential nutrients, Nestlé Vital was created to address the nutrition gap with products that are not only evidence-based but also tasty and that can be easily integrated into daily diets,” a Nestlé spokesperson told NutraIngredients.
“Modern life makes it hard for midlife consumers to get the nutrition they need, and the gap between lifespan and health span persists. Nestlé Vital provides a science-backed, accessible solution to support energy, cognitive health, muscle strength and sleep, which are key needs at midlife and beyond.”
Nestlé’s renewed focus areas
Nestlé is increasingly focusing its efforts on health and wellness, recently announcing plans to merge its nutrition and health science divisions into a single business.
In its recently published full-year results, the company also announced a renewed focus on four key areas—coffee, pet care, nutrition, and food and snacks—with plans to sell its ice cream and water businesses.
The company also listed multiple growth opportunities, including the personalization and premiumization of infant nutrition products, geographical expansion of its medical nutrition and premium supplement brands, and pioneering in ‘new demand’ spaces, such as women’s health, healthy aging and weight management.
The launch of Nestlé Vital reflects the company’s interest in these key areas, according to Serena Aboutboul, head of Nestlé’s nutrition business.
“The healthy longevity segment is experiencing particularly robust growth,” she said. “With Nestlé Vital, we are responding to this fast-growing trend by combining decades of nutrition expertise with insights from multiple clinical studies to create great-tasting drinks that support people’s daily energy, sleep and overall vitality needs. Our goal is to make healthy longevity a possibility for everyone.”
Smart Aging program aims to make aging well a choice
Launching in four flavors—chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and unflavored—Morning Routine contains taurine, magnesium, vitamins B6, B9 and B12 to support energy levels, improve focus, boost immunity and strengthen muscles and bones. Meanwhile, Evening Routine contains mulberry leaf extract, tryptophan, magnesium, zinc and vitamin B3 and B6 to support sleep quality, muscle restoration and healthy skin.
Each of the selected nutrients are clinically proven to address the pain points and challenges associated with aging in a low-calorie, ready-to-mix formula, with the formulations initially piloted in Brazil.
“Brazil is a great place for us to launch Nestlé Vital for several reasons,” the Nestlé spokesperson said. “It’s a large market with vast potential where Nestlé has a very strong presence and capabilities.
“The country’s diverse consumer base and openness to innovation in nutrition make it an ideal environment to introduce and scale new health-focused offerings like Nestlé Vital. Expansion to Europe and Asia will follow.”
The Vital range is the first innovation in the company’s ‘Smart Aging’ program, which aims to make aging well a choice, accessible to all through expert advice and simple routines.
“The Nestlé Vital strategy centers on integrating Smart Nutrition with the Smart Aging program which together involve simple and science-backed micro habits for nutrition, body and mind, designed to help participants feel better through small, maintainable daily actions,” the spokesperson said. “The Smart Aging platform will deliver personalized habits, regular guidance and weekly checklists, encouraging participants to anchor healthier routines—alongside the use of Nestlé Vital—into everyday life for healthy longevity.”
