WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) — West Salem Middle School students traded their classrooms for outdoor adventures during the school’s annual Winter Wellness Day, participating in activities designed to promote overall student health and well-being.
The event took students to multiple locations across the region, including Mount La Crosse for skiing, Fort McCoy’s sledding hill, and Lake Onalaska for ice fishing.
The diverse range of activities allowed students to experience different winter recreational opportunities while focusing on wellness education.
“We started it to try to promote different types of wellness, physical, mental, emotional, and it just blossomed from there,” said Jason Mahlum, a 7th grade teacher at West Salem Middle School.
Meanwhile, Tomah 8th graders also embraced winter activities, participating in their annual ski day on the slopes of Mt. La Crosse.
