JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Working out to work on combating an important cause the community faces.
GSR Fit in Johnson City is hosting its second annual Hyrox at the Box event Saturday morning.
Hyrox is a fitness sport started in Germany that consists of several different movements along with running.
88 participants will compete in teams of two and the event will also feature raffles and food for spectators.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Crime Victim’s Assistance Center.
CVAC Board Member and GSR Fit Coach Jennifer King says that as a domestic violence survivor herself, she knows firsthand the impact that is felt by supporting this cause.
“We do more than just support Domestic Violence. It’s anybody who is affected by crime, their families. So, you are giving to this community in a huge way, and anything you can do to support would be appreciated,” said King.
King says this is the first time the event will benefit CVAC, as last year’s event benefited the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group.
GSR Fit Owner Greg Rollo says the purpose of the gym is to make an impact in the community and help those in need.
The Hyrox at the Box event will begin Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
