About a year ago, I was lucky enough to stay at a super fancy hotel in London, and one of the overarching memories was just how good the lobby smelled. As someone who writes about fragrances a lot, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Ever since then, I’ve made it my mission to make my home smell just as luxurious, whether that’s by burning the best candles or having a diffuser in every room. However, a few months ago, I was very kindly gifted a Diptyque room spray, and I quickly realised it’s the quickest, easiest (and chicest) way to make your home smell incredible. Not only can it fill an entire space with your favourite scent, but you can even use some on home fabrics for added impact.

Since making this discovery, I did some research and realised that so many of my favourite fragrance brands offered room sprays, so that your home can smell just as good as your go-to perfume. I have been spending the last few weeks testing some of the most popular room sprays out there, and I don’t think I’ve ever had as many compliments when my friends and family walk through the door.

Below, I’ve rounded up a concise edit of the best room sprays on the market that look chic, smell expensive and make every day feel a little more luxurious. Keep on scrolling to shop.

The Best Room Sprays, Tried & Tested1. Diptyque Roses Room Spray

I’m a huge fan of Diptyque candles. The chic vessels contain some of my favourite scents, and the candles themselves make a stylish piece of interior decor. The room spray is just as stunning, housed in a clear glass bottle with the monochromatic emblem on the front. While I’m not one for floral perfumes, it’s actually this scent that I gravitate towards in my home. Perhaps it’s because it smells just like a fresh bouquet of roses bursting out of your most showstopping vase. It’s fresh, floral and a little bit fruity, with a heady aroma that you can really smell when you step into a room. The best bit is that you can also use this spray on curtains and cushions. Who needs flowers when you have this?

2. M&S Cloud Room & Linen Spray

This might be a much more affordable option, but I promise that it looks just as good. Both a room and linen spray, Cloud from M&S is a gourmand delight. Marshmallow creates a super sweet opening, while tonka bean adds a nutty element, before warm tones of vanilla come through. Although it’s sweet, it also feels incredibly comforting, like a long hug after a busy day.

3. Loewe Honeysuckle Room Spray

Not only is this probably the most stylish room spray on the market, but it’s also a total delight for spring. Fresh, light and airy, I have been spritzing this in every single room to brighten up those grey mornings this March. Although it has this gorgeously sweet, floral aroma, it actually packs a surprising punch and will make any room feel instantly revitalised. It’s more of an investment for sure, but I have no bad words to say about this room spray.

4. Malin + Goetz Tomato Room Spray

Tomato Room Spray

Key notes: Tomato

Size: 147ml

This room spray from Malin + Goetz won a Who What Wear UK Next in Beauty Award, and for good reason. Not only is the tomato scent fresh, green and beautifully herbaceous, but it actually contains odour-neutralising technology to help remove unwanted odours. I personally love keeping this one in the kitchen.

5. Rituals The Ritual of Jing Home Perfume

First of all, how luxe does this look? Rituals has so many good room sprays, but this is currently my favourite, as it literally smells like a five-star hotel lobby. It’s a little bit fresh, a little bit herbaceous and also a little bit aquatic, thanks to notes of lotus flower. It almost feels spa-like, which I think is why it’s earned a permanent spot in my living room.

6. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis Linen Mist

Okay, this is technically a linen mist, but it’s so good that I constantly find myself spraying it around the house. It’s literally like fresh laundry in a bottle. A little citrusy, super fresh and oh-so clean, I cannot get enough. Because it’s so fresh, you might think it’s more subtle, but I spray this on my bed when I make it in the morning, and I can still smell it on my pillowcase at night.

7. Aesop Cythera Aromatique Room Spray

Aesop is my go-to brand for unique, spa-like scents, and this particular room spray is a woody, earthy concoction of geranium, incense and patchouli. It’s much richer than the other options in this roundup, and that’s why I love it. Not only does it make a statement, but it also makes my home feel like a relaxing retreat. Although I’d reach for fresher scents in the summer, I know this will be my autumn and winter room spray of choice.
