As much as I love trying out the latest trends (no matter how quirky or questionable they seem) as a style editor, I’ll be the first to admit: I’m always coming back to the good old leather jacket and jeans outfit. It’s the kind of look that never lets you down. Season after season, it has weathered fashion’s wild, trend-cycle rollercoaster, and still comes out looking chic and pulled together. With spring on the horizon, this duo is shaping up to be my go-to transitional uniform. It keeps me warm on chilly mornings without feeling too heavy by midday when the sun hits, and temperatures climb above 40 degrees—it just works.

I’m obsessed with the way street style stars have been pushing the boundaries of this classic pairing. Sure, it’s not the most groundbreaking outfit formula, but thanks to clever layering and unexpected styling choices, this outfit combo can be anything but basic.

Lately, the outfit inspiration flooding my feeds has reignited my love for this classic pairing, leaving me itching to experiment—and once you see just how good these looks are, I have a feeling you’ll be just as inspired.

Barrel jeans have been having a major moment for a while now—and it’s clear they’re not going anywhere. I love the contrast of their relaxed, baggy shape paired with a sharp, fitted jacket. And I love this look especially. Those pops of red bring just the right amount of color and energy to an otherwise head-to-toe dark look.

When brown became the new black, it completely changed the game for me—especially when it comes to leather jackets. This cropped version paired with wide-leg jeans, feels effortless, but what really makes it stand out is the styling. The button-up top peeking out from beneath the jacket and the striped headscarf add a playful touch, giving the look more dimension and keeping it from feeling one-note.

Let this be proof that leather jackets can look just as cool in brighter colors! I’m loving the preppy vibe here, with the loose button-up top and tie detail adding a playful touch. The straight-leg jeans perfectly balance the look, while tasseled loafers elevate the sophistication even further.

The funnel-neck silhouette has quickly become the neckline of the season, and it looks especially cool on a leather jacket. Take a risk and stray from the usual blue-jean move by pairing it with some white jeans. It’ll completely transform the whole moment, going from potentially plain to something striking, with a fresh, elevated energy. And the lace trim peeking out is the icing on the cake!

Sometimes, it really can be as sleek and simple as a cute top and jeans. And in this case, the “cute top” is a slightly oversized leather jacket with a waist-cinching belt.

You heard it here first: Peplum silhouettes are back—and it’s showing up on leather jackets. The ultra-flared waist transforms this typically edgy piece into something playful and feminine. Paired with loose jeans and pointed-toe ballet flats, the outfit feels polished yet laidback.

If you don’t have a distressed leather jacket, consider this your sign to vintage shop for one. Wear it with baggy dark jeans to fully tap into that early-aughts throwback energy, and throw on a leopard-print dress to seal the look.

The color burgundy has been everywhere lately, and I’m obsessed. It’s a bold, yet understated hue. And it’s a great way to “add color” to your wardrobe (New Yorkers, I’m talking to you) without going full-on neon. This long leather jacket is the perfect example—and paired with wide-leg jeans, it feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard.

This look is straight off the F1 grid. The red racer jacket is the undeniable standout, and paired with oversized jeans and Tabis, it’s sporty without trying too hard.

The fur trim on this cropped leather jacket adds a playful twist to an otherwise prim ‘n’ proper silhouette. I especially love how it’s styled here with light-wash jeans tucked into knee-high boots (my favorite way to look cool and warm).
